Clyde C. Kauffman

Clyde C. Kauffman ’50, 90, passed away on Thursday, March 23, 2023 at Geisinger Lewistown Hospital. He was the husband of Judy Kauffman.

Clyde C. Kauffman, Sr., 90, of Thompsontown, passed away at 12:57 PM on Thursday, March 23, 2023 at Geisinger Lewistown Hospital.

Born on April 30, 1932 in Pfoutz Valley, Perry County, he is a son of the late Clyde and Mabel L. (Howard) Kauffman. On April 10, 1992, he married his surviving wife, Judy (Frymoyer) Kauffman with whom she was blessed to share over 30 years of marriage. In addition to his wife, he is survived by his children, Scott Kauffman and his wife Tracey of Mount Pleasant Mills, Mindy Rishel and husband Chuck of Mifflintown, Clyde Kauffman Jr. of Thompsontown, Judy Leitzel of McAlisterville; one grandson, Joseph Slautterback and wife Samantha; one step son, Derrick McDonald and wife Staci of Thompsontown; two step granddaughters, Makenzie Werner and husband Brandon, and Madison McDonald; one step great grandson, Ezra Logan Werner; and one brother, James Kauffman and wife Marge of Mifflintown. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Angela R. Stayer; one stepson, Logan McDonald; and many siblings.

Mr. Kauffman is a 1950 graduate of the Milton Hershey School in Hershey and was employed and retired as a Mechanic and Foreman for Regester Chevrolet in Thompsontown, and after retirement was employed for the Thompsontown Boro. His memberships included Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church in McAlisterville, Thompsontown Volunteer Fire Company No. 8 where he was a past Chief, and the Thompsontown Ambulance League from 1950 until the time of his passing with his last ambulance run being on March 17, 2023. He loved making big meals for his family and friends; playing games; enjoyed mowing, sometimes for his neighbors and on vacant lots; and for over 30 years played the role of Santa Claus for the Wise family.

Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday, March 29, 2023 at 12:00 PM from his church, Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church, 420 Main St., McAlisterville with the Rev. James Park Bricker and Pastor Karen Ward officiating.
Interment will be private at Hillside Cemetery, McAlisterville.

A viewing will be held from 10:00 AM until the time of the funeral services at 12:00 PM on Wednesday at the church.
