Carey E. McDaniel

Carey E. McDaniel ’47, 93, passed away on Friday, March 31, 2023 at SpiriTrust Lutheran The Village. He was the husband of the late Ruth McDaniel and the father of Edward McDaniel.

Carey E. McDaniel, age 93, of York, died at 8:23 PM Friday, March 31, 2023, at SpiriTrust Lutheran The Village at Sprenkle Drive. He was the husband of the late Ruth J. (Schultz) McDaniel.

Born May 19, 1929, he was a son of the late Travis E. McDaniel, and the late Ethel (Smith) McDaniel Gearhart, and brother to Travis McDaniel, Jr., Betty Sue Baker, Catherine O’Kelly, and Ruth G. Keech. He was retired from CSX Railroad Transportation, where he worked as a Freight Agent, and also served in the US Army during the Korean War.

Mr. McDaniel is survived by a son, Edward A. McDaniel, and his wife Cindy, of Thomasville; two grandchildren, Seth McDaniel, and Courtney Watson; and four great grandchildren.

A graveside service is scheduled for 2:30 PM Wednesday, April 12, 2023, at Mount Rose Cemetery. Military rites will be presented by the York County Veterans Honor Guard. Kuhner Associates Funeral Directors, Inc., 863 South George Street, York, is in charge of arrangements.
