Arthur C. Myers

Arthur “Art” Channell Myers, 96, of Meridian, ID passed away peacefully on Sunday, August 23, 2020 from natural causes.

Art was born on October 12, 1923 in New Oxford, PA to Erdie and Jordan Myers. He was the eldest of two sons. Art’s father passed away when he was only 5 years old; afterward, he attended the Milton Hershey Industrial School in Hershey, PA. After graduating, he started work for IBM Corp. in Endicott, NY. He was soon drafted into the army and served during WWII. He then returned to IBM Corp. where he worked as a mechanical engineer for 44 years.

On July 4, 1946, Art married Nora Kleha of Scranton, PA. Together they had two daughters, Susan and Marilyn, and were married for 74 years. They lived in Vestal, NY for many years before being transferred by IBM to Charlotte, NC. Later on, he and Nora moved to Idaho to be near one of their daughters and grandson. Art was a very devoted family man. His family was everything to him and he was everything to his family.  Art became lovingly known as Papa.

Everyone who met Art would comment on how kind he was.  Art cared for his aging step-father in his home and helped raise his grandson. Where ever there was someone in need, Art was there with a helping hand.

Art was a very skilled handyman, but his passion was woodworking. He made many beautiful pieces of furniture for his family. It was very common to find him involved in many home improvement projects for his daughters.

Art is survived by his wife Nora, daughter Susan Bartleson and husband Steve, and daughter Marilyn Seymore and grandson Cody.

Art is pre-deceased by his father Jordan, mother Erdie, brother Ralph, step-father Cecil Yoder, step-brother Charles (Bud) Yoder, and step-brother Jack Yoder.
