Adam W. Fisher

Adam Fisher ’49, 91, passed away on Sunday, November 27, 2022 at State Street Assisted Living Facility in Dover, DE.

He was born September 10, 1931, in York, PA, a son of the late Adam W. Fisher, Sr. and Miriam (Kindt) Fisher. He was also preceded in death by his brother and sister-in-law, William R. and Grace Fisher of Hershey, PA.

Dr. Fisher served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. His teaching career began in Pennsylvania starting in 1959 and along the way he attended Temple University, the University of Delaware and received his Doctorate in Special Education Administration from Penn State University. He retired after 32 years as State Administrator of Special & Vocational Education for the Delaware State Department of Education. Dr. Fisher had served as a Pastor and Sunday school teacher at Salem Evangelical Church in New Holland, PA. Growing up, he played minor league baseball with the Phillies and Tigers, where he was a pitcher and could throw 100 miles per hour. Dr. Fisher was a member of Community Bible Church in Dover, DE., the National Education Association, Vocational Education Association and Phi Delta Kappa Fraternity at Temple University. He was a gun collector, enjoyed traveling and doing historical research, especially on the DuPont legacy, Winterthur & Hagley Museums and the Milton Hershey School.

As per Dr. Fisher’s wishes, there will be no viewing or services. Interment will be private in the Hershey Cemetery in Hershey, PA. Share condolences to www.hooverfuneralhome.comwww.pennlive.com/obits
