William E. Romeis, 86, passed away Tuesday morning, May 15, 2012 at his home. He was born October 12, 1925 in Montgomery County, PA to William C. and Edna Cassey Romeis. Bill moved from Norristown, PA to Germanton in 1978. He was retired from American Ink and was of the Jehovah Witness Faith.

Bill served his country proudly in the US Army Air Force as a SGT. during WWII from October 26, 1943 to February 11, 1946. He served in the Asiatic Theatre in Central Burma, India and Burma. He was an honor graduate of Hershey Industrial School, started by Milton Hershey of Hershey, PA.

2:00 pm funeral service will be held on Thursday, May 17, 2012 at Burroughs Chapel with Brother Jim Berry officiating. Burial will follow at Gardens of Memory in Walkertown.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 64 years, Ruby May Parrish Romeis; 2 sisters, Doris Machukas and Evelyn White. He is survived by a daughter, Delores Charles Merritt of Germanton; 2 brothers, Robert Romeis of Charlotte and Elmer Romeis of Houston, TX; 2 nieces, 5 nephews and special friend, Nancy Nelson of Walnut Cove.

The family will receive friends from 6-8 pm, Wednesday, May 16, 2012 at Burroughs Funeral Home and other times at the family home. Memorials may be made to Hospice and Palliative Care Center of Stokes County, PO Box 863, Walnut Cove, NC 27052. Burroughs Funeral Home in Walnut Cove is serving the Romeis family.
