Albert O. Piasecki
Albert Piasecki, 94, Somerset, NJ entered eternal rest on Saturday, January 02, 2016 at his home in Somerset, NJ, surrounded by his family.
Mr. Piasecki was born July 23, 1921 in Philadelphia, PA. He attended Milton Hershey School in Hershey, PA as young boy, shortly after the passing of his parents. He then moved to Emmaus, PA with his loving house mother, Fanny Meyers.
Albert honorably served in the United States Army during World War II, having attained the rank of Technical Sergeant. Upon returning from the war, he moved to Bronx, NY and then to Rochelle Park before settling in Somerset with his daughter. Albert worked for many years as a bookkeeper for Vornado, in Garfield, NJ.
He enjoyed assisting in coaching his granddaughter Meghan’s traveling soccer team, as well as supporting both of his granddaughters in their sporting ambitions. Albert was also a supporter of the American Legion and the VFW. He was an avid gardener and loved reading. Albert had an amazing outlook on life, no matter the trials along the way, he never complained. He inspired many to work hard for what you get and to appreciate what you have. He brought beauty into the world with every garden he tended and every flower he planted. If you had the opportunity to meet this man, you were blessed to have met one of the sweetest souls that have ever graced this earth.
Mr. Piasecki was preceded in death by his spouse, Anna Piasecki; his parents, Zygmont and Louise Piasecki; his loving house mother, Fanny Meyers, five of his brothers and a sister. He is survived by his daughter, Patricia Sugalski of Somerset, NJ; his brother, Edmund Piasecki of PA; his sister, Edna Wisnewski of PA; his granddaughters Melissa and Meghan; his great grandchildren, Mikayla and Caleb Talbert and many nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held at Gleason Funeral Home, 1360 Hamilton Street, Somerset, NJ 08873 on Sunday, January 10, from 4-8 pm. Funeral services will begin at 7:30 P.M. at the funeral home. Lee Zandstra of Living Waters Lutheran Church will be officiating. Interment will be at 11:30 am on Monday, January 11, at the Brigadier General William. C Doyle Veteran’s Cemetery in Wrightstown, NJ.
