Daniel Robert Ludwig, 91, entered into eternal rest on Sunday, February 8, 2015 with his devoted wife, Mary Jane by his side.

Daniel was born on June 4, 1923 in Hegins Twp., PA to the late Calvin & Erma (Hauck) Ludwig.

He graduated from the Milton Hershey School in the school’s very first graduating class.

Daniel proudly served his country in the U.S. Army during WWII. He was part of the 3rd Army and served under Gen. Patton.

After the war, Daniel went to work for Standard Wheel & Rim. He started at the ground floor and worked his way up into the CEO position. Daniel retired at the age of 72 with over 40 years of service. During that time he was a nationally recognized expert in specialized wheel and brake systems for industrial vehicles.

Daniel was a member of the Gideons International and a member of the Milton Hershey Alumni Association. Daniel was a devoted Christian and a lifetime member of the Evangelical Congregational Church. He was always ready to help others; whether it was through the Meals on Wheels Program or just giving rides to those in need.

Daniel was a devoted family man. He always put his family’s needs before his own. Daniel never missed a grandchild’s concert or sporting event.

Daniel is preceded in death by his 1st wife, Geraldine M. Ludwig and his brother Charles H. Ludwig. Daniel survived by his beloved wife of 22 years, Mary Jane Ludwig, his son Rick Ludwig (Marianne), his 4 stepsons: John Snyder (Tammy), Dennis Snyder (Marilee), Donald Snyder (Cheryl) and Scott Snyder (Linda), his 3 daughters: Sandy Mitchell (Ben), Pat Ford (Tom) and Merrie Butkus (Bucky), his step-daughter Sandy Marts (Tom), his 18 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren.

A viewing for Daniel will be held on Friday, February 13, 2015 at the Jesse H. Geigle Funeral Home from 6:30-9pm. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, February 14, 2015 at the Clarks Valley EC Church, 210 McKelvey Road, Dauphin, PA 17018 at 11am. Burial will follow at Dauphin Memorial Cemetery.
