M. Lester Good, age 89, of Lancaster, Pennsylvania, went to be with the Lord, on Tuesday, July 20, 2010, passing away of natural causes.

Born in Gordonville, PA, he was the son of the late Clarence Ray and Annie Carpenter Good. He and his wife, Margaret E. Butt Good, celebrated their 54th wedding anniversary last Oct. 1, 2009. Lester was a 1939 graduate of the Milton Hershey School.

He was employed as a tool and die maker for the former Hamilton Watch Company for 23 years, where his fellow employees called him “Marty.” He was then employed by Micro Precision Tool Company until his retirement.

Faith was very important to Lester and his first church affiliation was at Zeltenreich U.C.C., in New Holland for many years. He then became a member of Zion U.C.C. Church and served as a past president of the church’s consistory. Most recently, he attended Manor Church.

In his younger years, he enjoyed dancing, which was how he met his wife. He also enjoyed bowling and playing pinochle. He was an enthusiastic gardener, particularly caring for his tea roses. As an avid woodworker in his home shop, Lester enjoyed creating candle stands, furniture, toys, jewelry boxes and Christmas ornaments.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by a daughter, Elaine Good Morgan, wife of Lee D. Morgan, II, of Mountville; two grandchildren, Amanda Kay Morgan Smith, wife of Wilson Manning Smith, of Middletown, Jonathan Lee Morgan, of Mountville; a brother, Harold Good, of Mt. Joy; eight nieces and eleven nephews. Preceding him in death were two sisters, Evelyn Hartranft and Mildred “Mid” Schweitzer, both of Leola.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend Lester’s Life Celebration Funeral Service at Manor Church, 530 Central Manor Rd., Lancaster, PA, on Saturday, July 24th, at 10:00 AM with Rev. Robert Sheetz officiating. Interment will be in Millersville Mennonite Cemetery. Friends may call at the Funeral Home of Fred F. Groff, Inc., 234 W. Orange St., Lancaster, PA, on Friday from 6-8 PM and at the church on Saturday from 9:30 AM until time of service.
