Pedestrian dies after being hit while running across street in Port Ewen Times Herald-Record Posted: January 10, 2009 – 2:00 AM

PORT EWEN – A pedestrian died after being hit by a car Thursday on Broadway.

The Ulster County Sheriff’s Office said William J. Kulchitsky, 58, of New Salem Road, Esopus, ran across Broadway just before 6:30 p.m. and into the path of a car driven by Harry Giles Jr., 82, of Salem Street, Port Ewen.

The Town of Esopus Volunteer Ambulance Squad took Kulchitsky to St. Francis Hospital in Poughkeepsie, where he later died.

The sheriff’s office said the investigation is continuing. The Port Ewen Fire Department assisted at the scene.
