Roy E. Hayes, 84, of Sarasota, died Oct. 11, 2010. He was a World War II Marine veteran of the Pacific campaign and a retired police detective.

He is survived by his loving wife, Generosa; a son, Stephen; and a grandson, Kevin, all of Sarasota. Services will be private.
