Robert A. Neal
Robert Andrew Neal, 90, of Keyser, W.Va., formerly of Augusta, W.Va., died Thursday, Sept. 22, 2011, at the Potomac Valley Hospital, Keyser. Born on Dec. 21, 1920, at Duncansville, Pa., he was a son of the late Samuel and Mary (Nicewonger) Neal. He also was preceded in death by three sisters, Margaret Hurliman, Dora Brown and Lucille Martin; and five brothers, Samuel, Walter, Thomas, Blair and Theodore Neal.
Mr. Neal was a retired self employed house painter for many years. He was a US Army veteran of World War II and took part in the D-Day invasion of Normandy. He was a member of the Grace United Methodist Church, Keyser.
Surviving are his wife of 37 years, Eugenia “Jeanie” (Stewart) Neal; one son, the Rev. Barry E. Neal and wife Sandy of Tipton, Pa.; one stepson, William C. Rey Jr. of Reading, Pa.; one brother, David Neal of Carnegie, Pa.; one granddaughter, Erin M. Neal; two step grandsons, Jeremiah and Kyle Rey and three step great-grandchildren, Konnor, Logan and Wyatt Rey.
At Mr. Neal’s request there will be no public visitation. A memorial service will be conducted at the Grace United Methodist Church, South Mineral Street, Keyser, on Sunday, Oct. 9, 2011, at 2 p.m. with the Rev. James A. McCune officiating. The family will receive friends at the church one hour prior to the service. Inurnment will be in the Augusta Cemetery, Augusta, W.Va. The Smith Funeral Home, Keyser Chapel, is in charge of the arrangements.
