Michael P. Sokolowski

Passed: September 9, 2017

Michael P. Sokolowski Sr. passed away peacefully Saturday, Sept. 9, 2017, at Samaritan Hospice following a long battle with pancreatic cancer. He was 65.

Mike was born July 4, 1952, in Mount Holly, and lived in Hainesport until the passing of his father, Stanley J. Sokolowski Sr in 1964. He then moved to Hershey, Pa., where he attended the Milton Hershey School. After graduation in 1971, Mike attended Lehigh University for a short time before returning to Hainesport. Soon after, he met his wife, Carole, and they were married in 1977.

He worked for Nesson Pools in Maple Shade for a number of years, and then moved on to Sybron Chemicals where he worked for 29 years.

Mike will be remembered for his love of life and his ever-positive attitude. He was a life member of both the Hainesport Emergency Squad and Fire Company where he selflessly volunteered his time to help others in their time of need. In his spare time, he enjoyed gardening and spending time outdoors whenever possible. He was the type of person who never met a stranger, and was always willing to help in any way possible.

He was preceded in death by his mother and father, Stanley J. and Ruth Woertz Sokolowski; and his beloved pet of 15 years, Lenny. He is survived by his loving wife of 40 years, Carole (Schellhardt); his children, Amy, Michael Jr., and Timothy, all of Hainesport; his grandchildren, Ava ‘Petunia’ and Aaron ‘Little Man’; his sister, Ruth Ann DeHart (Bruce) of High Point, N.C., his brothers, Stanley J. Sokolowski Jr. (Christie) of Wall, N.J., and William Sokolowski (Tamara) of Hainesport; and many in-laws, nieces, nephews, and friends.

A viewing will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 14, and again from 9 to 10 a.m. Friday, Sept. 15, both at the Mount Laurel Home for Funerals, 212 Ark Road, Mount Laurel. The funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Friday, Sept. 15, at Our Lady Queen of Peace Church, 1603 Marne Highway, Hainesport. Interment will follow in Sacred Heart Cemetery, Hainesport.
