John Franklin Finnegan, 62, of Baxter, Pa., died Friday, July 18, 2014, at the Brookville Hospital. He was born Feb. 10, 1952, in Mahoning County, Ohio, the son of Donna Jean Canja, who survives, of Struthers, Ohio. John was later adopted by the late John Edgar and Nellie Belle Finnegan. John graduated from Milton Hershey High School and later obtained a bachelor’s degree in Powdered Metallurgy from Penn State. John was married to Mary E. Lucas on June 20, 1987, in Punxsutawney. He was employed at Humphrey Charcoal until becoming disabled. John was a member of the Brookville Christian Alliance Church. He enjoyed fishing, gardening and model trains.

Along with his mother and wife, John is survived by a stepbrother, Alexander; and two stepsisters, Andrea and Kathleen. John was preceded in death by his adoptive parents; a stepson, Daniel Tate; and a stepdaughter, Stephanie Tate.

His family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, July 21, 2014, and from 10 to 11 a.m. Tuesday, July 22, 2014, at the Furlong Funeral Home, corner of Broad St. and First Ave., Summerville. The service will be held Tuesday, July 22, 2014, at 11 a.m., with Pastor Brian Smeal officiating. Interment will be at the Asbury Cemetery, Clarion Township, Clarion County.
