John E. Crider
CRIDER, JOHN – Alzheimer’s may have taken John Crider, 71, from us too soon on February 16, 2015, but his legacy will long continue.
For almost 30 years, known as the King of Ice Cream in the Atlantic City area, Crider’s Creamery in Pleasantville supplied most of the hotels and served tens of thousands of area residents with his delicious ice cream treats. John would always tell you, proudly, that among his favorite customers was Donald Trump. A lifelong compassion and career that all started from a very humble beginning.
John honed his skills at the Hershey Creamery/Dairy in Hershey, Pennsylvania while attending the Milton Hershey School, for poor, orphan boys. While at MHS John also showed his athletic skills on the football field, playing line on both offense and defense and as the heavyweight wrestler on a team that would go undefeated for many years. But it is what the school instilled in John’s work ethic, honesty and true belief that the customer was, indeed, always right that is credited for his extremely successful career as the owner/operator of Crider’s Creamery.
As a devoted husband and father John leaves behind his wife Anna, two daughters, Laurie and LeeAnn and two sons, Corey and Cody. John will be missed, loved and remembered by so many people. In short, John’s sons would like to add – His deeds are our monument, he life is our inspiration.
