Douglas Lloyd Heydt Sr., 84, of Wyomissing, PA, passed away May 23, 2014. Married for over 50 years, Doug was the widower of Caroline A. (Gilliams) Heydt. Born in Pottstown, Doug was preceded by his parents, Raymond Heydt and Helen (Morgan) Heydt.

Bill is survived by his 2 loving children: son, Douglas L. Heydt Jr., husband of Annette (McCaul) Heydt, of Shillington; and daughter, Alison A. (Heydt) Wilkins of Colony Park. Additional survivors include 3 grandchildren: Courtney Joy Wilkins; Douglas L. Heydt III; and Jennifer (Heydt) Good, wife of Scott Good, of Sinking Spring; 1 step-grandchild, Michael L. Mandich, and 2 great-grandchildren, Tanner Good and Aiven Good.

Doug was a graduate of the Milton Hershey schools and the Wyomissing Textile Technical School. He proudly served in the U.S. Air Force, stationed in Dover, DE. Doug was successfully self-employed as the founder and president of his textile company, Chima, Inc., where he worked for 38 years.

Mr. Heydt was an active member of the Advent Lutheran Church in West Lawn, a devoted family man and loving husband. Doug was full of life, enjoying family vacations at Wildwood Crest and trips to the islands, including a recent vacation to Cancun. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to The Alzheimer’s Association of Berks County, 237 Court St., Reading, PA 19601.

Funeral and interment services will be private, held at the convenience of the family. A memorial service will be announced at a later date to be held in Advent Lutheran Church, 16 Telford Ave., West Lawn.
