Charles D. Fordyce Weatherford International manager worked in Algeria

Charles D. (Chuck) Fordyce, 51, of Waynesburg, died at 5 a.m. Sunday, July 8, 2007, while at work in Algeria, North Africa.

He was born Monday, December 12, 1955, in Waynesburg, a son of Charlotta L. Polen Fordyce of Waynesburg and the late William A. Fordyce.

For the past several years, Mr. Fordyce worked for Weatherford International based in Houston, Texas, as country operations manager in Algeria. Prior to working for Weatherford International, he worked for several years for Columbia Natural Resources in Charleston, W.Va.

He was a 1973 graduate of Milton Hershey School and a 1978 graduate of West Virginia University.

While at WVU, he was a member of the wrestling team and served as co-captain his senior year.

Mr. Fordyce was a member of the WVU Alumni Association, Letterman Club, Varsity Club and Waynesburg Moose Lodge 461.

Surviving, in addition to his mother, are a daughter, Allyson Fordyce of Waynesburg; a son, Charles T. Fordyce; two sisters, Byllye Sue Miller and Sylvia J. Fordyce, both of Waynesburg; two brothers, Edward A. Fordyce of Garards Fort and James D. Fordyce of Oklahoma City, Okla.; and several nieces and nephews.

Deceased is a brother, Larry W. Fordyce.

The family will greet friends to celebrate Mr. Fordyce’s life from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday in Milliken and Throckmorton Funeral Home Inc., Daryl L. Throckmorton owner/director, 197 North Maiden Street, Waynesburg, where a memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Sunday, July 15, with Dr. Donald Wilson officiating. Burial will be private and held at the convenience of the family in Greene Mount Cemetery, Waynesburg.

Additional information was received for the obituary of James John Tragone, published Thursday. Graveside military rites will be accorded Friday, July 13, by American Legion Edwin Scott Linton Post 175.
