C. Eugene Peiffer, 85, of Quarryville, entered into rest on Friday, July 12, 2013. Gene, as he was known to family and friends was born in Lancaster, a son of the late John R. and Grace (Reidenbach) Peiffer. Gene and his wife, Doris (Rineer) Peiffer had celebrated 56 years of marriage together this month.

Gene attended the Milton Hershey Boys School. After graduating he enlisted in the U.S. Army Air Corps where he served in the 308th Bombardment Wing, stationed at the Kimpo Air Base in Korea. After serving his military term he worked at Burnham and the former Hamilton Watch companies in Lancaster before his retirement in 1989 from Armstrong World Industries as a draftsman.

Gene was active in his community; he was a member of St. Paul’s Church, American Legion Post #603, Washington Lodge #156 F&AM, Quarryville Sewer Authority, Scout Master of Troop #40, Slumbering Groundhog Lodge along with doing volunteer work with Hospice. Gene also loved working on clocks and operated a clock repair business out of his home.

Surviving besides his wife Doris are sons: Kent and his wife Connie of New rovidence, Scott and his wife Mary of Quarryville, granddaughters; Leah married to Kenny Porrit, Erin married to Kyle Bair, Monica married to Frank Lerro and Marla Peiffer along with great grandchildren Tyler and Colette. Gene also has a sister-in-law, Debbie Peiffer and 3 step-sisters; Bonnie Henrich, Joanne Kauffman and Betty Brown. He was preceded in death by a brother, Dale Peiffer.
