Albert F. Happel
Albert F. Happel, 88, passed away surrounded by his loving family at the Reading Hospital on June 2, 2018.
Albert was born in Exeter Township, Pa., on October 27, 1929, and was the son of the late Ralph and Sarah Esther Happel (Adams). Albert was truly blessed to share 60 years of marriage with his beloved wife, Joan, who passed away September 6, 2016. Albert was predeceased by his sister, Joyce Turner Brunk.
Albert is survived by his sister, Esther Hoffert, of Pottstown, Pa.; two daughters, Alison Pizzoli (Robert), of Lancaster, Pa., and Natalie Shollenberger, of West Wyomissing, Pa.; five grandchildren: Adriana Pennino Ziemba (Brad), of Chicago, Ill., Jessica Sahd (Michael), of Lancaster, Pa., Cristina Pickel (Lance), of Lancaster, Pa., U.S. Air Force Captain Justin Maudie, currently stationed at Hampton, Va., and Sarah Shollenberger, of West Wyomissing, Pa.; five great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Albert graduated from Hershey Industrial School (now Milton Hershey School) in 1947; from Wyomissing Polytechnic Institute in 1950; and he graduated and received his Bachelor of Science degree in education from Temple University in 1977.
Albert was employed as an electrician at Carpenter Technology from 1955 until 1969; and he taught electric shop at Berks Career and Technology Center West from 1969 until his retirement in 1990.
Services will be held privately at the convenience of the family.
In lieu of flowers, Albert requested that any memorial donations in his memory be made to West Lawn United Methodist Church. The family would like to thank the caring staff at Reading Hospital and Heartland Hospice for their compassionate care.
