MHS and MHS Alumni Association Cancel Homecoming Weekend

In response to health and safety concerns related to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic, we regret to inform you that Milton Hershey School will be cancelling its Homecoming weekend which was slated to take place Sept. 17-20, 2020.

This August, the School will be welcoming both new and current students to our campus. As you can imagine, many adjustments must be made in order to transition everyone safely back. This includes recently approved changes to the School Calendar and adjustments to our procedures and physical environment to mitigate the spread of COVID-19.

As you may be aware, every fall, close to 1,000 alumni come to Hershey to celebrate Homecoming with friends and staff members at a variety of events over multiple days. While our attendance rate is phenomenal, this fact alone would make navigating and enforcing state and health agency guidelines very difficult. Consequently, we came to this difficult decision in order to protect the health of our students, staff, and alumni.

Although we are disappointed that we will not be able to host this highly-anticipated tradition, we believe if we make the necessary sacrifices now, we will be able to welcome everyone back next year in 2021 with a renewed sense of excitement and energy. The Milton Hershey School community will certainly miss seeing its alumni on our campus and at our events, but we hope to see you next year, healthy and ready to celebrate!

Sincerely,

Tanya Baynham
