MHS Spartan Motorcycle Club Raffle

The recently formed Spartan Motorcycle Club rebuilt and painted (Brown & Gold) a 2003 FLH Harley Davidson police bike and will be selling raffle tickets for $10 apiece. They will sell 2,500 tickets, and the drawing will be conducted during halftime of the Homecoming football game. Tickets are on sale now and will be sold during Homecoming registration and at other MHS events. The bike will soon be on display in the enclosed carport area of the Dearden House, the new location of the Alumni Relations offices and will be on display in the Rotunda during Homecoming.

Young Alumni Reunion at Homecoming 2008

It's hard to imagine that some of the first classes I was privileged to present with an MHS diploma are now celebrating reunions. It's true; time does fly when you’re having fun, and fun is the reason I wanted to personally send this note to all members of the classes of 2002 – 2006 and most especially the Reunion Class of 2003. We are having our first ever “Cluster” reunion specifically designed and planned by the 5-year reunion team, Tiara Peterkin & Chris Day, et al, but including classmates and friends from surrounding years. I am pleased to announce that MHS is sponsoring an International Food and Music Festival only for the members of these 5 great classes on Friday evening at the MHS Ice Rink. Throughout the weekend there will be other opportunities for you to get together with your classmates, but this is the first time we have ever dedicated something specifically for our younger alumni.

What: Homecoming 2008
When: October 3 – 5, 2008
Where: The MHS Campus

Let's make this the biggest and best Homecoming special event
and create a whole new tradition.

Onward Spartans!

Homecoming 2008
Date: October 03, 2008 9:00 AM to October 05, 2008 1:00 PM

It has been such a pleasure this year for us to work with our alumni far and wide in support of our students, the School and the MHS Alumni Association. Great strides were made this year during the regional events with the “Swing Tour” which took our New Horizons group and several MHS staff members and alumni to Washington, Philadelphia and New York in attracting a more diverse and younger group of alumni. The Florida “minihomecoming” was well attended and we were able to include the new Florida Chapter of the MHSAA. The School and the Association held a Class Agents seminar to further develop and strengthen the Alumni Association and the individual classes.

Now as we prepare for Homecoming, we are reminded that the word “home” means many different things to MHS graduates. For some of us, MHS/HIS is the only home we know. Yet for others, it is but one of two or more homes in which we grew up. However you look at it, there is no denying the MHS family and the special relationships made while we were students.

Homecoming at MHS/HIS is more than a return to some distant classroom or to see some friends with whom we played a sport or performed in the band. It is really about “coming home” to a place and to people who helped shape our lives and who to this day, care about who we are and what we do. How wonderful to be able to come home again! We look forward to seeing you this year at Homecoming!
